South Africa’s biggest metros are investing in additional CCTV and drone surveillance capacity in a bid to clamp down on crime.
The City of Cape Town has budgeted a R23 million upgrade to its CCTV network over the next three years and R7 million over the next two years for purchasing drones and training operators.
These figures were presented in its budget, which was tabled on 31 May.
