UP Cabinet Meeting: Government plans to advance public transit with modern electric buses

In a recent Uttar Pradesh Cabinet meeting, plans for the introduction of modern electric buses into the state’s transportation system were solidified. The initiative aims to enhance efficiency and sustainability in public transit.

Scheduled to commence on June 14, the tender process for the supply, operation, and maintenance of 5000 electric buses currently operated by UPSRTC has been reopened. This move underscores the state government’s commitment to modernising its public transport infrastructure.

These electric buses signify the initial phase of a broader plan by the corporation to revolutionise public transportation in Uttar Pradesh. Looking ahead, the state has set ambitious goals, initiating plans to expand the fleet to a staggering 50,000 buses in the coming years. This strategic expansion forms a vital component of Uttar Pradesh’s long-term vision for enhancing its transportation network.
