Kiran Rao’s directorial Laapataa Ladies has received much love and appreciation from fans and critics alike.
Kiran Rao’s latest film, Laapataa Ladies, won a million hearts. The simple yet unique take on women empowerment has struck a chord with the audience. While the film beautifully touched upon various social subjects such as arranged marriages, societal expectations, dowry, and the negative side of patriarchy, it also had a fair share of light-hearted comic elements, leaving audiences laughing out loud.
Laapataa Ladies tells the story of two newlywed brides who mistakenly get exchanged during a train ride, leading to confusion. Weeks after the film’s release, a deleted scene from the film is now making the rounds on the internet. Featuring Deepak Kumar (Sparsh Shrivastava), the scene shows Deepak seeking help from a Fakiri baba to find his wife Phool Kumari (Nitanshi Goel). Their hilarious encounter left fans ROFL, some even asking why the scene was removed.
Laapataa Ladies’ Hilarious Deleted Scene
After trying every possible way to find his wife, Deepak Kumar reaches out to the Fakiri baba (Omkar Das Manikpuri) with two of his friends. As one of his friends introduces him and says, “Yeh humara dost hai Deepak. Abhi 4 din pehle biyah hua aur… (He is our friend Deepak. He got married four days ago and…),” the baba interrupts mid-way and hands him a small bunch of herbs to take twice a day.
Realising that the baba has misinterpreted their words, Deepika Kumar clarifies that his wife is missing. The Fakiri baba then hands him a piece of paper, asking him to offer water to the rising sun and letting a part of the paper in the air. “Jis disha mei ure, ussi disha mei patni milegi. Aur jab patni mil jaye, tab yeh pudiya do baar de dena (Whichever direction it flies in, that’s where you’ll find your wife. Once you find her, give these herbs twice a day)” he further instructs, leaving Deepak even more puzzled.
Shared by Netflix India on its YouTube channel, the hilarious scene has gone viral. A fan wrote, “Why this scene was deleted from the movie? I mean this scene is literally hilarious,” while another commented, “We missed this part in the movie.”
Directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Laapataa Ladies is set in rural India. Besides Sparsh and Nitanshi, the film features Pratibha Ranta, Ravi Kishan, and Chhaya Kadam in prominent roles. It is currently streaming on Netflix.
